Member countries of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) are taking steps to coordinate radio frequencies along their shared borders to improve communication and reduce interference.

A preparatory meeting held in Niamey, Niger, on Monday brought together representatives from the three member states to discuss technical and regulatory harmonization.

The session was chaired by Colonel Major Idrissa Chaibou, Director General of Niger’s Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARCEP).

Officials say the initiative demonstrates the AES’s commitment to deeper regional integration and enhanced cross-border cooperation amid ongoing political and security shifts in the Sahel.
