In Mali, road safety experts from the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) have begun talks to develop joint strategies aimed at reducing traffic accidents.

The meeting, which started Monday, brings together representatives from Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—all members of the AES confederation.

Officials say the goal is to craft unified proposals ahead of a forthcoming meeting of AES transport ministers.

Road accidents remain a major public safety issue across the Sahel, prompting calls for stronger coordination and preventive measures.
