The first-ever Sahel Governance Forum opened today in Banjul, The Gambia, marking a significant step toward shaping the region’s political future.
The event convened prominent leaders, including Gambian President Adama Barrow, former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, and ECOWAS President Dr. Omar Alieu Touray.
Also in attendance were the UNDP Africa Director and the UN Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel, highlighting the forum’s global importance.
Discussions are centered on building resilient institutions, tackling insecurity, and strengthening governance frameworks across the Sahel region.
