The growing number of mpox infections in the subregion is alarming, prompting a discussion on its signs, symptoms, and how to prevent infection.
Mpox, formerly Monkey Pox, is a viral disease that causes fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, and a distinctive rash that can spread across the body. It’s similar to smallpox but generally less severe.
The virus spreads through close contact with an infected person’s rash, body fluids, or respiratory droplets. It can also spread through contaminated bedding or clothing.
