Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye concluded a landmark 24-hour visit to Guinea-Bissau on May 26, marking the first official visit by a Senegalese leader since Guinea-Bissau’s independence in 1974.
Upon arrival, President Faye received a grand military welcome and was awarded the prestigious Cabral Medal—Guinea-Bissau’s highest national honor.
The visit included a stop at the Amura Fortress, the burial site of independence hero Amílcar Cabral, symbolizing deep historical ties between the two nations.
President Faye and Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embalo signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen bilateral relations across multiple sectors.
