Top government officials and security operatives have visited Plateau State to commiserate with grieving communities following Monday’s deadly attack in Zike, which left dozens dead and many homes destroyed.

The assailants, yet to be identified, stormed the farming village in the early hours, firing indiscriminately and causing mass casualties. This latest massacre adds to a growing toll of over 100 lives lost in less than a month across the state.

Despite the visits, many stakeholders and residents are questioning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s silence and physical absence during this national tragedy, which has heightened tensions in the region.

The situation has sparked fresh calls for swift justice, improved security, and a more visible federal response to the relentless violence plaguing Plateau communities.
