In Côte d’Ivoire, incumbent President Alassane Ouattara has been declared the winner of the October presidential election with just over 89% of the votes.
The announcement was made earlier today by the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI), which praised the smooth organization and peaceful conduct of last Saturday’s polls.
Ouattara’s victory extends his tenure, reinforcing his political stronghold as observers await the Constitutional Council’s confirmation of the results.
