Ghana’s National Labour Commission has waded into the ongoing industrial action by staff of the National Identification Authority (NIA), summoning both the union and government representatives to a hearing on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
The strike, which began on Tuesday, stems from the government’s alleged failure to honour a 2024 agreement on the payment of an Operational Support Allowance.
Describing the situation as an act of bad faith, the union insists the indefinite strike will continue until their demands are met.
Thursday’s meeting is expected to be a crucial step toward resolving the standoff and restoring normal operations at the NIA.
