In Niger, the ruling military has announced the appointment of a civilian prime minister.
In a statement broadcast on national television late Monday, the CNSP said it had appointed Lamine ZEINE Ali Mahamane as head of the new government.
He, therefore, has a few days to form a new cabinet.
This announcement comes at a time when ECOWAS is preparing to step up measures to remove the military from power.
