At least 30 people were killed on Saturday in fresh attacks carried out by suspected bandits in Nigeria’s northwest region. The violence struck three villages in Niger State, leaving communities traumatized and mourning significant loss of life.

Armed assailants on motorbikes launched coordinated raids, burning houses and shops as they swept through the targeted settlements. The attackers demonstrated brutal efficiency in their assault on civilian populations with minimal security presence.

Residents who managed to escape the violence reported the attacks occurred in villages within the Borgu Local Government Area. The location sits near Nigeria’s border with Benin, highlighting the cross-border security challenges plaguing the region.

The incident underscores the persistent threat of armed banditry in Nigeria’s northwest. Despite military operations, rural communities remain vulnerable to violent incursions that displace families and destroy livelihoods with devastating regularity.
