The federal government of Nigeria has vowed to take stringent regulatory measures against traders it says are unfairly inflating prices of goods and commodities.

The government’s declaration through the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), comes after the non-reduction in prices despite the recent appreciation of the Naira against the dollar.

The Commission’s chief Adamu Abdullahi in a statement on Wednesday described the situation as unacceptable and reiterated the FCCPC’s commitment to protecting consumers from exploitation.

Oge Obierika completes the story.
