Nigerian Customs intercepts ₦4bn worth of arms from Türkiye: 844 rifles seized in major bust

The Nigerian Customs Service, Rivers State has intercepted a shipment of assorted arms and ammunition originating from Türkiye and estimated to be worth about ₦4bn, approximately two point six million dollars.

At a meeting to announce this major bust, the Controller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, revealed that the 40-feet container with registration number MAEU165396 originated from Türkiye and that the Service had it under surveillance all the way.

He said the interception occurred on the 21st of June, 2024.

According to reports, the Customs Service impounded the container during inspection after the importer attempted to circumvent protocol it was discovered that the container had 844 units of rifles:
