Seventeen students from a Koranic school in Zamfara, Nigeria, have died in a devastating fire, with fifteen others injured.

The blaze, which broke out late Tuesday, reportedly started from corn and millet stalks stored in the school compound.

Governor Dauda Lawal has pledged an investigation and support for affected families, while President Bola Tinubu has called for stronger safety measures in schools.
