Nigerian authorities say over 1,200 communities in 30 states face high flood risks this year.

The warning follows the release of the 2025 Annual Flood Outlook by the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.

Minister Joseph Utsev predicted heavy rains and widespread flooding, urging early preparedness and community resilience.

Emergency services and local governments have been tasked to develop mitigation plans to avoid a repeat of past disasters.
