Public trust in Nigeria’s electoral system is facing renewed scrutiny following the release of a new report by civil society group YIAGA Africa. The survey, published shortly after the release of the 2027 general elections timetable, highlights growing concerns about the credibility of future polls.
According to the study, less than half of Nigerians express confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible elections. The findings reflect deep public anxiety about the integrity of the electoral process and the institutions responsible for managing it.
The report adds to ongoing national conversations about electoral reforms, transparency, and accountability, as Nigeria prepares for another major election cycle.
