Less than 24 hours after a man unsuccessfully detonated an explosive device near the state-owned Presidential Hotel, the Rivers State Government, Nigeria has arrested the suspect.
The suspect, who is currently in custody, attempted the detonation during a pro-police protest in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
After the incident, State Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh, alerted management of both public and private medical facilities in the state on the identity of the suspect, injury signs and the need to detain him if found.
Speaking to the media after the suspect, who is yet to be named, was arrested, she said the man is stable and currently undergoing medical treatment.
