Nigeria has ordered the immediate closure of 41 Federal Unity Colleges as security concerns intensify across several regions of the country.
A circular issued by the Federal Ministry of Education on November 21, 2025, confirmed that schools in the North-West, North-East, North-Central, and parts of the South are affected. The directive, approved by Education Minister Tunji Alausa, follows fresh security alerts and fears of potential breaches targeting learning institutions.
Authorities say the move is a preventive measure aimed at protecting students and staff as armed groups continue to operate across vulnerable communities.
