The Nigerian Senate has ordered the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to refund about USD $147 billion—equivalent to over 210 trillion naira—to the Federation Account.
Lawmakers say the amount remains unaccounted for despite months of audit reviews and repeated demands for clarification.
The Senate Committee on Public Accounts emphasized that transparency and accountability in the oil sector are crucial to restoring public trust and ensuring fiscal discipline in government operations.
