Bauchi State in north-eastern Nigeria has confirmed at least 258 new cholera cases and 58 deaths, sparking alarm among health authorities.

The state government has inaugurated a Cholera Steering Committee to coordinate emergency response efforts and contain the outbreak across local government areas.
