In Nigeria, the opposition landscape is narrowing as key figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continue to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The latest defections include Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, both influential figures within the PDP.
Their move further tilts Nigeria’s political balance in favor of the APC, which has been consolidating power ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Analysts warn that the trend could undermine multiparty democracy and weaken the opposition’s ability to hold the government accountable.
