Heavy rainfall in recent days has triggered flash floods across parts of Nigeria, submerging homes, cutting off roads, and leaving residents stranded.
The disaster comes just weeks after the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) warned of possible flooding in vulnerable areas.
An earlier forecast in April revealed that 33 of Nigeria’s 36 states are at risk of severe flooding this year.
The worsening floods highlight the growing impact of changing weather patterns on communities already grappling with fragile infrastructure and limited relief support.
