ECOWAS, working alongside Islamic scholars and faith-based organizations, is urging a stronger, united front to counter terrorism and violent extremism across West Africa.
This call was made during the West African Islamic Conference on Security and Governance held in Abuja, where delegates emphasized non-violent approaches to tackling insecurity.
Over the three-day meeting, participants highlighted poverty, unemployment, political marginalization, and weak governance as major factors fuelling radicalization in Nigeria, the wider region, and the Sahel.
