A court in Nigeria has barred resident doctors from embarking on a planned nationwide strike scheduled to begin on January 12.
The National Industrial Court in Abuja issued the order following a motion filed by the Federal Government and the Attorney General of the Federation, seeking to restrain the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and its members.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Emmanuel Subilim after hearing submissions from lawyers representing the Federal Ministry of Justice.
Earlier this month, NARD had announced plans to resume a total and indefinite strike, citing the government’s failure to implement agreements reached with the association.
