A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, the self-acclaimed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on seven counts of terrorism brought against him by the Federal Government. The ruling, delivered by Justice James Omotosho, found that prosecutors had proven their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Thursday’s session was tense, as Kanu openly protested in court, accusing Justice Omotosho of denying him the opportunity to present a final address before the judgment was handed down. His outburst came moments before the court concluded proceedings and delivered its verdict.

Kanu’s conviction marks a major turning point in a long-running case that has drawn national and international attention, particularly across Nigeria’s southeast. Further legal and political reactions are expected as the country awaits the next steps in the judicial process.
