Nigeria has announced the arrest of two of its most wanted militant leaders, in what authorities are calling a decisive blow against terrorism.

National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, alongside Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago, confirmed the arrests, which they say have effectively crippled the command structure of Ansaru, an Al-Qaeda-linked extremist group.

The arrests mark a significant step in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against insurgency, with security forces intensifying operations to dismantle militant networks across the country.

Officials say investigations are ongoing as the government moves to consolidate gains in counter-terrorism efforts.
