Lecturers across public universities in Nigeria, under the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), staged peaceful protests on Tuesday demanding the government honour agreements reached since 2009.
The demonstrations come amid growing frustrations over unpaid arrears and inadequate funding for tertiary education in the country.
ASUU leaders say the protest is a warning strike aimed at drawing urgent attention to the long-standing issues.
They insist failure to address these concerns could lead to a full-scale industrial action in the coming weeks.
