Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council has approved the creation of a National Cocoa Management Board (NCMB), signaling a major step toward revitalizing the country’s cocoa industry.
The announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a meeting with representatives from the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF) on Monday. He emphasized that the move aims to reposition Nigeria as a leading player in the global cocoa market.
The NCMB is expected to oversee regulation, quality control, and market coordination within the cocoa sector, offering renewed hope for farmers and exporters seeking greater government support and international competitiveness.
