In Northwest Nigeria, at least 16 people lost their lives on Saturday evening in Tungar Kara, Maradun Local Government Area, following an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Among the victims were local vigilantes and residents. Reports indicate that the strike, intended to target bandits in the region, inadvertently affected civilians, raising concerns about the accuracy of military operations in combating insecurity.

Witnesses described the tragic scene as one of devastation, with many families mourning their loved ones. While the NAF has yet to release a detailed statement on the incident, authorities have promised a thorough investigation to prevent such occurrences in the future.

This incident underscores the delicate balance between addressing insecurity and protecting innocent lives in conflict-affected areas.
