Nigerian authorities have scheduled a National Conference from February 15 to 19, 2025, to draft the country’s transition charter. This important document will define the structure and timeline of Niger’s political transition.

Interior Minister Mohamed Toumba confirmed the conference’s details and instructed regional officials to notify their representatives. The conference, set to take place in Niamey at the Mahatma Gandhi Conference Center, will gather key political and civil society figures to discuss the future of the nation.

Head of State Abdourahamane Tiani also appointed a National Commission to oversee the drafting process, which aims to define the governance structure, transition duration, and appointment procedures. This conference is crucial in shaping Niger’s political future following the July 2023 coup.
