Authorities in Niger have sanctioned 14 transport companies for refusing to transport fuel to neighboring Mali.

Mali has been grappling with a prolonged fuel crisis, which has disrupted supply chains across the country.

The situation has been worsened by intensified attacks by terrorist groups on tanker trucks supplying fuel to Bamako.
