Niger has unveiled plans to launch both a national airline and a regional carrier for the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), aiming to boost connectivity and economic integration.
Transport Minister Colonel-Major Salissou Mahaman Salissou announced that the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) has eased legal processes to fast-track flight authorizations. A dedicated committee is expediting the necessary documentation.
The AES airline is a top priority, with efforts underway to link member states’ capitals and enhance regional mobility. Officials see it as a key step toward stronger cooperation.
Formed on July 6, 2024, by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, the AES Confederation seeks to improve infrastructure and foster economic resilience across the region.
