Niger has formally withdrawn from the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), marking another step in its shift away from traditional alliances.
The decision, confirmed through a diplomatic note, follows Niger’s earlier exit from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) alongside Mali and Burkina Faso in January 2024.
Authorities in Niamey have yet to outline their next diplomatic moves, but analysts see this as part of a broader realignment in the Sahel region.
