Niger’s Ministry of Communication and New Information Technologies has opened a national forum dedicated to strengthening community media and promoting more inclusive, responsible communication.
Held under the theme “The Role of Community Radio and Local Authorities in Promoting Children’s Rights, Peacebuilding, Social Cohesion, and Local Governance,” the three-day gathering brings together stakeholders from across the country.
Participants are exploring how community radio can advance children’s rights, deepen social cohesion, and support peacebuilding efforts—particularly in areas affected by instability.
Authorities say the forum aims to position local media as a driving force for dialogue, local governance, and long-term community resilience.
