Niger has adopted a draft decree creating the National Commission for Rent Regulation, a new body tasked with addressing rising housing costs.

The commission is expected to regulate rental prices, expand access to affordable housing, and help reduce social inequalities.

In Niamey, where the cost of accommodation has become a growing concern, the measure has been widely welcomed by residents.
