Niger’s transitional government has announced a 20% cut in annual tuition fees for private schools and training institutions, starting from the 2025–2026 academic year.

Authorities say tuition fees will not fall below 50,000 CFA francs, except for relief, charitable, or educational organizations.

The policy has drawn mixed reactions in the capital, Niamey — with some parents welcoming the financial relief, while others question how effective and enforceable the measure will be.
