Ghana’s National Identification Authority (NIA) staff have suspended their week-long strike, allowing national ID registration services to resume on Sunday, June 30.
The industrial action, triggered by unresolved issues over allowances and salaries, had halted registration nationwide and left thousands of citizens stranded.
According to the NIA, the decision to call off the strike follows fruitful negotiations involving government officials, union leaders, and key stakeholders.
This development brings relief to many Ghanaians, as ID cards remain essential for banking, voting, and accessing public services.
