The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won Ghana’s Akwatia parliamentary by-election, held on September 2, 2025.
Bernard Bediako Baidoo emerged victorious after securing a clear majority, according to results announced by the Electoral Commission.
The election was organized under tight security, with over 33,000 registered voters turning out to cast their ballots.
The by-election was necessitated by the death of Ernest Yaw Kumi, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP who previously represented the constituency.
