Youth-led protests in Morocco demanding better education and healthcare have entered a fourth day, turning increasingly violent across several cities.

Organized online by an anonymous group calling itself “GenZ 212,” the demonstrations have drawn hundreds of young people into the streets of Tiznit, Inzegane, Ait Amira, and Oujda. Clashes broke out Tuesday evening as protesters hurled stones at police, torched vehicles, and attempted to storm public buildings, prompting security forces to respond with water cannons and mass arrests.

In Inzegane, masked demonstrators tried to break into a post office, while others set fire to cars and clashed with police outside a supermarket.

In Ait Amira, footage showed damaged law enforcement vehicles after being overturned by angry crowds. In Rabat, dozens of youths were detained before they could begin chanting slogans, with 37 now facing trial on bail, according to the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH).

The group has condemned the arrests as unconstitutional, while authorities in Casablanca are investigating 24 protesters accused of blocking a highway during earlier unrest.

The government coalition issued a statement Tuesday, pledging openness to dialogue with young people. The protests, driven by frustration over unemployment, corruption, and poor public services, represent the largest Gen-Z-led movement Morocco has seen in years, and they pose a growing challenge to the government’s stability.
