The UN humanitarian officials have expressed deep alarm regarding the escalating reports of atrocities and abuses targeting civilians fleeing El Fasher in Sudan.
Based on satellite imagery analysis, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said it identified at least two mass graves near a mosque and the former children’s hospital, along with several other locations showing evidence of body disposal activities.
Local volunteers highlighted widespread and systematic abuses, including executions, sexual violence, extortion, and humiliation, particularly targeting those fleeing the fighting following the recent takeover of El Fasher by the Rapid Support Forces.
Meanwhile, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that as of Tuesday, nearly 82,000 people have fled El Fasher and its surrounding areas following the city’s fall on October 26.
