President Mohamed Ould El Ghazouni was on Thursday, officially declared the winner of the June 29 presidential election by the Constitutional Council.
Ghazouni obtained 56.12% of the votes, far ahead of opponent Biram Dah Abeid, who ended up with 22.10%.
Biram Dah Abeid, who contests the results, has been denouncing electoral fraud since the election day on June 29.
However, the Mauritanian government affirmed yesterday that the vote took place without any irregularities.
