The University of Liberia has reported alarming results from its 2025 entrance and placement exams, with a majority of candidates failing to meet the required standard.

According to the institution’s Centers for Testing and Evaluation, over 13,000 candidates registered for the exams. However, the results revealed widespread academic shortcomings, highlighting deep gaps in student preparedness.

The outcome has sparked renewed concern over the quality of secondary education in Liberia and its ability to adequately prepare young people for higher learning. Education advocates say urgent reforms are needed to address systemic weaknesses and ensure students are better equipped for academic success.
