The Mano River Union (MRU) has inaugurated a regional parliament, marking a major step toward deeper political and economic integration in West Africa.
Held at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, the event brought together top officials and delegates from Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire.
The new legislative body will promote policy harmonization, peace, and cross-border cooperation on key issues such as youth unemployment, insecurity, and climate resilience.
Leaders say the MRU Regional Parliament will meet regularly to drive joint development and ease movement of people and goods across member states.
