Political parties and civil society organizations in Mali have petitioned the Supreme Court to annul a decree enforced by the transitional authority on April 10.
The decree in question suspends indefinitely the activities of all political parties and associations in the Sahelian country – a decision that signatories to the declaration of March 31, deemed repressive and tyrannical.
The platform intends to achieve its goal through a pool of lawyers.
Recall the Junta had justified its action as a measure for creating the prerequisite conditions in carrying out major activities including the Inter-Malian Dialogue for Peace and National Reconciliation.
The signatory Parties also welcomed the respect of the slogan relating to non-participation in the inter-Malian dialogue initiated by the Authorities in place.
The signatory parties further specify that no manoeuvre will cause them to back down in the fight for freedom, democracy and the well-being of Malians.
The transitional government has yet to respond.
