Hundreds of young Malians staged a protest outside the Algerian Embassy in Bamako on Tuesday, demanding an official apology from Algiers.
The demonstration follows Algeria’s admission that it shot down a Malian military drone near the border, sparking diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
Led by youth groups, civil society organizations, and pro-junta associations, the protesters condemned the act as hostile and disrespectful to Mali’s sovereignty.
The rally adds to growing friction between Algeria and the AES bloc, which includes Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.
