Political parties in Mali have voiced strong opposition following the government’s recent suspension of all political and associational activities.
The controversial decision, issued by the Council of Ministers, is said by the military-led government to be necessary for restoring public order. However, critics argue it further deepens the country’s democratic crisis.
In response, a coalition of parties is mobilizing for a mass protest at Independence Square on Friday, demanding an end to the military transition and the reinstatement of their political rights.
