In Mali, former Member of Parliament Abdoul Jalil Mansour Haïdara has been assassinated in an armed attack along the Ségou–Bamako road.

Haïdara, who was also a respected religious leader in the Ségou region, was widely known for his dedication to community service and peacebuilding.

His killing on Thursday evening comes amid growing insecurity in central Mali, following a series of attacks linked to the al-Qaeda-affiliated group JNIM.
