In Mali, several women are speaking out against a rule imposed by the jihadist group JNIM that forces them to wear veils while traveling.
The decree, enforced in areas under the group’s influence, has sparked outrage among women in the capital, Bamako, many of whom have vowed not to comply.
According to local reports, several women have been assaulted by JNIM fighters for refusing to wear the veil, while authorities have yet to issue an official response to the growing crisis.
