The Press House of Mali has condemned the decision by the High Authority for Communication (HAC) to revoke the broadcast license of the private television channel Joliba TV News.
This decision follows a complaint filed by the Higher Council of Communication of Burkina Faso, which alleged issues with the station’s reporting.
The Press House has strongly criticized this move, labeling it a violation of media pluralism and freedom of expression. According to its president, Bandiougou Danté, the action undermines democratic values and the independence of the press in Mali.
In a bid to address the matter, the Press House has established an ad hoc committee tasked with engaging the HAC. The committee’s objective is to initiate dialogue and advocate for the restoration of Joliba TV News’ license.
The incident has sparked debates about the balance between media regulation and the protection of press freedom in the region.
