In Bamako, nearly a hundred political parties gathered on Tuesday to protest planned consultations to revise Mali’s political party charter.
The transitional authorities announced last week that the regional phase of the consultations would begin on April 16, ahead of a national review. However, the proposal has been met with skepticism from across the political spectrum.
Many parties fear the process could be a pretext to weaken or dissolve existing political formations altogether.
As Mali navigates its transitional period, opposition voices are growing louder over concerns of shrinking democratic space.
