Malian opposition figure Mountaga Tall has voiced strong criticism of the decision to grant transitional president General Assimi Goïta a five-year renewable term. This comes amid growing concerns over the country’s democratic trajectory.
Tall, speaking after the recent dissolution of political parties by the transitional authorities, urged General Goïta to reconsider the extension and take steps toward restoring civilian rule. He proposed a series of reforms aimed at ending the transition, including a national dialogue, the reinstatement of political freedoms, and a clear roadmap to elections.
